Zambia launches C&I Energy+Storage Summit media campaign
The event, organised by the VUKA group, is a focused response to the growing demand for reliable, sustainable, and cost-effective energy solutions within the C&I sector
Government, industry and financial leaders in Zambia have officially launched the media campaign for the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) Energy and Storage Summit Zambia, which will take place in Lusaka on 27-28 August.
Speaking at the launch, the CEO of Buterla Investment Holdings Limited, Happy Chisenga Mbulo, local partner of organiser Vuka Group, said the event would respond to the growing demand for reliable, sustainable and cost-effective energy solutions in Zambia and the wider region.
Event organiser VUKA Group to connect C&I stakeholders in Zambia
“Allow me to take a moment to introduce Vuka Group. Headquartered in South Africa, Vuka Group is a leading organiser of business-to-business events and strategic forums across the African continent. With decades of experience in convening high-level industry platforms, Vuka Group has become a trusted name in connecting policy-makers, innovators, investors, and industry leaders to accelerate progress in sectors that matter, particularly energy, infrastructure, and sustainability.
“Their footprint across Africa includes flagship events that have shaped conversations and catalysed real investment and policy outcomes,” said Mbulo.
In this context, said Mbulo, the C&I Energy and Storage Summit Zambia is a focused response to the growing demand for reliable, sustainable, and cost-effective energy solutions within the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) sector in Zambia and the wider region.
“This conference is designed to provide a high-impact platform for the exchange of knowledge, ideas and partnerships in the energy storage and decentralised power space.
“Scheduled to take place on the 27th and 28th August this month, the event will bring together key stakeholders: government representatives, technology providers, financiers, developers, and C&I energy users, for two days of dialogue, networking pods, and practical solution-building,” he said.
Event to target specific challenges
Focus areas include the deployment of battery and hybrid energy storage technologies, financing models for distributed energy in commercial operations, policy and regulatory frameworks and lessons from local and regional success stories.
Zambia’s Energy Minister Makozo Chikote, described the media launch as “a strategic step towards raising national awareness and public interest in a sector that lies at the heart of our country’s economic transformation: energy.”
He said the C&I Energy Conference would explore practical, scalable and forward-looking solutions for Zambia’s commercial and industrial sectors, emphasising renewable energy integration, energy efficiency, financing mechanisms and policy alignment.
Chikote also highlighted reforms underway in the energy sector, including a review of the Electricity Act and the Energy Regulation Act, strengthening of the Energy Regulation Board, and streamlining of licensing, permitting and tariff-setting processes.
Funding for clean energy projects in Zambia
Stanbic Bank, a sponsor of the summit, stressed its commitment to financing renewable energy and storage solutions.
“This summit is not just another event… it is a platform for action,” said a Stanbic representative, noting that energy security is key to productivity across Zambia’s commercial, industrial and agricultural sectors.
Delivering the vote of thanks, energy expert and Summit advisory board member Johnstone Chikwanda said the summit would serve as “a transformative platform that leads to action, investment, and meaningful partnerships.”
He said that media support would be critical to building awareness and engagement.
Chikwanda commended the Ministry of Energy for its leadership in guiding Zambia’s energy transition.
He said the summit would not only respond to the immediate energy needs of the commercial, industrial, and agricultural sectors but also lay the foundation for a resilient, diversified and sustainable energy future.
