Cameroon PV-Hybrid Installation

Aptech Africa recently commissioned a PV-hybrid system in Cameroon in a project funded by UNDP.

This system includes 18.36 KWp of roof-mounted PV generation with 25.2 KWh of lithium ion battery storage. The system is hybrid and uses energy from both solar and the grid. The system has a remote monitoring system which provides information on energy generation via daily graphs, load capacity, current, and voltage.

The system is providing energy to the UNDP country office located in Yaoundé, Cameroon with the goal to decrease UNDP’s carbon foot print, stabilize the existing grid, and to showcase solar hybrid solutions within the country for other projects. The hybrid system will also eliminate power interruption for critical IT equipment.

This project was a challenge to implement due to COVID-19 related restrictions and delays. Unstable internet connection within the country was also an issue, however Aptech worked hard to overcome all obstacles to deliver a quality energy solution.

Thanks to Aptech’s perseverance, UNDP staff now have access to an uninterrupted power supply within the office, enabling them to provide important developmental support to the country of Cameroon as a whole.
