Eskom issues a solar PV tender for Komati Power Station
Eskom has issued a tender for the design, supply, installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of a solar PV plant with a capacity of up to 72MWp for Komati Power Station for a period of three years. It is expected that the Request for Proposals will be made in November 2025.
A virtual briefing meeting will be held on 14 August 2025 at 10am.
This forms part of the Eskom Just Energy Transition Project (EJETP). The EPC Contractor will be responsible for surveying, design, engineering, manufacture, procurement and supply of all materials and labour.
The Contractor will also do delivery to site, offloading, construction, erection, installation, off-site testing, on-site testing, commissioning, performance testing, provision of samples, preparation of all detailed design drawings, as-built record drawings, maintenance manuals and instructions for a solar PV single-axis tracker system with a maximum export capacity of 72MWac.
The PV system will be connected to the existing Eskom grid at a voltage level of either 11kV, 33kV or 275kV. The EPC Contractor shall be responsible for value engineering and determining the most optimal voltage for the connection to be made at, aligned with the system limitations and available Points of Connection (POC).
The period of implementation is 18 months or earlier for the design, procurement, supply, installation, testing, commissioning and energisation of the facility into commercial operation, with a further 18 months of operations and maintenance services.
