In 1982, Greece opened Europe’s first commercial wind farm on the island of Kythnos.
PPC/DEME installed 5 two bladed AEROMAN 11/20 20kW w/ts, totaling 100kW power output. They were equipped with a hydroelectric blade tip control, had an 11,6 m swept area and a 10m high lattice tower, constructed of galvanized pipes.
Official inauguration date 15th April 1982

In 1990, these first 5 wind turbines were replaced by 5 third generation wind turbines 33kW each, totaling 165kW, on conical cylindrical towers of 15m height.
