Climate Change, Energy and the Greek Environment - 28 January 2020

21 01 2020 | 12:04

The European Union has set targets for renewable energy sources to make up at least 32% of the energy mix, and for energy savings to reach 32.5%, by 2030. Greece must now design and implement policies and measures in line with these targets.

However, these policies must promote a “just transition” and be socially accepted in order to be effective and robust. Ideally, citizens should take part in the selection of these policies, by being informed and expressing their preferences on the available options.

The Decision Support Systems Laboratory of the School, within the framework of the EU-funded PARIS REINFORCE project, co-organises along with the Hellenic Society for the Environment and Culture and the Convergences Greece Forum a national stakeholder workshop on climate change, energy and the national context, aiming to explore the available alternatives, on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, while giving the opportunity to stakeholders from industry, government and the civil society to get informed, discuss, raise concerns and help decide the way forward.
