Japanese utility ponders 700MW offshore move.

Japanese utility Tohoku Electric Power Company is participating with Renova in a feasibility study into the possibility of developing a 700MW offshore wind farm off the coast of Japan.

The Oki project would be located off the coast of Yurihonjo City in Akita prefecture.

Tohoku said the study will include an environmental impact assessment.

If the partners decide to move forward with the development, construction would likely start in 2021, with the project due to come online in the 2024 financial year.
