This year’s focus on South Africa and Africa promises to be valuable for the wide range of domestic and international attendees. The South African Wind Energy Association (SAWEA), in proud partnership with the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) aims to position South Africa for wind energy market leadership on the African continent.

The Windaba conference will align domestic, continental and global developmental objectives, market trends and thinking.  From the vantage of underpinning economic development and advancing wind energy market, Windaba will take place under the theme: ‘Unleashing renewable power for African economic development’.

Since 2011, South Africa’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producers Procurement Programme (REIPPPP) continues to create meaningful economic development for South Africa. Over 8 years including, a 3-year period where no new procurement was undertaken, REIPPP has attracted R209.4 billion in committed private sector investment.
